In individual therapy, Dr. Broussard uses a blend of humanistic-existential philosophy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), and Reality Therapy (RT) in helping clients work through their problems. The foundation of existentialism rests on the belief that, as human beings, we are all free to choose our path in life. The profound nature of this freedom, however, often produces anxiety that can disrupt a person life. Nevertheless, this freedom to choose makes us responsible for the decisions we make. The purpose of therapy is to help the client understand his or her freedom and accept responsibility for the decisions he or she makes.

REBT and CBT help clients evaluate their thought processes and understand how the power of thought is essentially connected to their feelings and behaviors. By learning to identify, evaluate, and challenge their negative thinking patterns—often learned through previous experiences—clients can begin to replace negativistic thinking that has dominated their life with more realistic, positive thinking aimed at promoting health and wellness.
